2019 Softball SSAC Awards

DECATUR, AL - The SSAC announced the 2019 softball awards on Wednesday the 1st at the banquet in Decatur, AL and 7 Knights won awards for their performances on the field and in the classroom this year.  

Margaret Simmons was named to the 1st Team All-Confernece and the All-Academic Team.  Simmons batted .376 this season with 64 hits in 52 games, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs, 20 RBI and 36 runs scored, a .430 OBP, and a .938 fielding percentage.

Caroline Newton was named to the All-Freshman Team, All-Freshman Team, and Gold Glove.  Newton batted .337 in 52 games with 56 hits, 24 runs scored, 31 RBI, 11 doubles, 4 triples, and 3 RBI.  In the circle for the Knights, Newton had a 14-10 record on the season in 169.2 innings pitched and a 2.76 ERA.  She earned her spot on the Gold Glove Team with a .942 fileding percentage in 154 chances at pitcher and third base.

Madison Bivinswas also named to the 2nd Team All-Conference.  She batted .376 with a .403 on-base percentage, 65 hits, 37 runs scored, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, and 29 RBI for the Knights with a .557 slugging percentage.

Meagan Coleman, Maggie Burkhalter, Taylro Sheffield, and Brittany Wilt all earned spots with Simmons on the All-Academic team by having a 3.25 GPA and 24 hours of earned credits.  Coleman also was named the team's Champions of Character selection.
