MONTGOMERY, AL - Softball dropped a pair of games on Friday the 5th to #19 Faulkner University losing game 1 by a score of 3-0 and 6-1 in game 2. The losses put the team's record at 22-14 on the season and 9-7 in SSAC play. Faulkner is now 17-12 on the season and 8-8 in SSAC play.
The Knights were outhit in the first game 11-2 as the Eagles put up a pair of runs in the 1st and another in the 3rd. Margaret Simmons had both the hits for the Knights in game 1 as she went 2 for 3 in the loss. Caroline Newton took the loss going 6.0 innings with 11 hits, 3 earned runs, a walk, and 4 strike outs.
Game 2 had the Knights fall behind 2-0 in the 1st and picked up 4 more in the 5th. The Knights scored their lone run in the 6th on a sacrifice fly by Emilie Lawrence to score Madison Bivins. Simmons and Bivins each had 2 hits in the game while Newton, Lauren Heath, and Brittany Wilt each had 1 hit. Sydney Shackelford threw 6 innings giving up 10 hits, 3 earned runs, and a walk with 2 strike outs while taking the loss.
