COCHRAN, GA - The Knights entered Wednesday night's game on a streak that no one wanted to see opening the season with a tie before losing six straight, but the team pushed through and after trailing 1-0 for most of the match put in two goals in the final 8:30 of the contest for a 2-1 win over the Georgia Southwestern State Hurricanes.  The Knights got their first win of the season to move to 1-6-1 and played well throughout the game.

Both teams were strong in the first half going to the break tied at nil with the Knights outshooting the Canes 4-2 in the half.  The second half saw action early with a three total cautions in the first 5:36 before the Canes captain Silvio Polly beat the Knights defense for the first goal of the game at 51:25.  The Knights went on to outshoot the Canes 10-4 in the second half but could not put a goal in until the 88th minute when Ryan Mitchell (SR/Waycross, GA) and Justin Alonso (SO/Warner Robins, GA) combined on the assist to Ernesto Corral (FR/Guayaquil, Ecuador) for the tying goal as time was winding down.  The goal came just moments after the Knights had a shot go just wide and another off the crossbar.  The final two minutes went with no excitement and the game headed to overtime.

The Knights outshot the Canes 5-0 in overtime and after missing the first three wide, Jack Arra (JR/Ennis, County Clare, Ireland)'s shot was on target but saved by Matthew Sherry for the Canes and Edgar Kordecki (FR/Germany) was waiting with the header on the rebound and the game winner.

The Knights got the win just in time as they have a ten day break before playing at Concordia College on September 30 and then to conference play starting October 5 when they travel to Bethel University and Martin Methodist, both in Tennessee.
