Cochran, GA – The Knights softball team opened up their season on this clear blue sky Friday and looking to start the season off strong. The Point University Skyhawks traveled from West Point, GA and would battle the Knights looking to ensure they were left with a victory.

Julia Davis (SO/Cordele, GA) would start off the Knight's season with a leadoff walk and a stolen base in the bottom of the first. She would go on to score the first run of the game on a batted ball and the Knights would go up 1-0 on 0 hits in the first inning.

Meagan Coleman (SO/Cordele, GA) would be the Knights Starting pitch for game one and would go through the first 5 innings not allowing run to the Skyhawks. The Skyhawks though in the 6 innings would figure out Coleman and would push 3 runs across home plate to capture the lead 3-1.

Julia Davis in the bottom of the 7th would score her second run of the game and would put the score at 3-2 and the Knights were looking to capture the lead and win. Allison Warren (SO/Damascus, GA) would single to shallow left which would push Madison Bivins (SO/Ellaville, GA) across home plate to tie the game 3-3 and the Knights would be that much closer to walking off with the victory. A Torie Holmes (FR/Cordele, GA) single down the left field line would be the walk-off hit and the Knights would take the first game 4-3.

Meagan Coleman would pitch 7.0 innings, allowing 3 earned runs, and striking out 6 batters to capture her first win of the season. Sabrina Doucette (SO/Perry, GA) and Torie Holmes would be the two Knight players to get two hits during the first game and would get at least one RBI to help the Knights to their first victory of the season.
